2 Days in Split | Croatia

We're at the last of my posts about my week in Croatia now! My time in Split was actually a little spread out, as I was there for four nights in total. I arrived around midday after taking the 4 hour bus ride from Dubrovnik, and so had that afternoon to look around. Then I spent the next two days out of the city, on day trips around the area to Plitvice Lakes and the Dalmatian Coast islands. So then I had still had one more full day in the city before leaving to return home. That was definitely the right amount of time in my opinion, as any longer in the city itself and I would've gotten bored and been running out of things to do, especially as the weather was pretty overcast.

Dalmatian Coast Islands | Croatia

So if you haven't read my previous Croatia posts so far, first of all, go do that. But to summarise, I spent a week in Croatia, starting off with three days in Dubrovnik, and moving on to Split for the rest of the week. You don't need that many days to see Split itself, so I used to the time to do some day trips to other parts of the region, starting with Plitvice Lakes. For my second outing, which I carefully scheduled for the sunniest day of the trip, I headed off the mainland for a day of island hopping along the Dalmatian Coast.

Plitvice Lakes National Park | Croatia

For the second half of my week long holiday in Croatia, I travelled out of Dubrovnik and took a bus north to Split (you can also take a ferry or flight!). I was staying there for four nights, and the first afternoon I spent in the city itself - more coming on that in a future post! However, whereas in Dubrovnik I could have done day trips but instead chose to fill my time in just the city itself, I discovered that for Split you only need a day or two in the city. But I had booked to stay for that long to do some day trips around the region instead. I looked into a few options before settling on one day to the Blue Cave & 5 Islands, and another to Plitvice Lakes.

3 Days in Dubrovnik | Croatia

Croatia's Dalmatia coast has become exceedingly popular over the last few years, thanks to its beautiful islands, stunning old town cities, and of course, Game of Thrones filming locations! I needed a week's holiday this month (before summer and high tourism season hits), and hadn't been before, so it seemed perfect. I did half the week in Dubrovnik, then the second half in Split, further up the coast, including day trips to Plitvice Lakes and 5 Islands. Sadly, the weather didn't cooperate for me, and I had about two sunny days out of the whole week, so some of my plans had to be altered to adjust... Still, I think I made pretty good use of the time I had. Anyways, Dubrovnik first of all!

Outfit - Brunching

Oh I do love a bit of brunch. I'm a cliché really, give me anything involving eggs benedict, avocado, and coffee, and I'll be happy. Anyways, this outfit is so-named because I first wore it for a brunch day, but it's a staple everyday combination for me. It's a fairly simple, casual look, with these blue skinny jeans and long purple cardigan (both new purchases though), but I think the heeled ankle boots and the jewellery just make it a touch more sophisticated. I also like the purple & green colour combination of the cardigan and top (it's more green in person) - which I haven't featured on here in years! I chose the jewellery to match the top, and they're pretty global pieces, with the earrings coming from Lesotho, and the necklace a gift from my brother from his trip to New Zealand. Nothing very complicated or unusual going on here, but I like how it all comes together!

Brown | Colour

It's natural and organic and rough. It's old and worn and used. It's dirty and dull and messy.
