The Extrovert | Character Sketch

She likes to make a splash. She's bold and wacky and out there. Extrovert doesn't even begin to cover it.

'Extrovert' character sketch, of a girl in an orange beret, flower pattern blouse, and wide blue jeans

Meeting new people is her favourite thing to do. She'll ask endless questions about your life, your hobbies, your experiences; while pouring out her own answers at the same time. She's a chatterbox, but also a great listener, soaking in every word. She has a warmth to her, so when she's listening to you, it feels as if you're the most important person in the room. She has so much enthusiasm and energy for life, an eternal optimist and ray of sunshine.

She's the life and soul of the party. And not in a drunk, trashy, mess kind of way. In a genuinely excitable way. She bubbles with energy, springing into each new conversation as it comes. She'll never turn down an invitation for a social event, and she adores new adventures. She's that friend who always has plans. Her schedule is packed with activities, classes, events, and excursions. She's always trying new things, and has all sorts of diverse hobbies. She can knit and juggle, she likes to bake, she goes rock climbing and thrift shopping, she's learning Japanese. She's desperate to squeeze every last drop out of life.

Of course, it's not always that way. When she's home alone, that's when her loneliness creeps in. She doesn't handle being alone very well, which is why she fills up her days so much. To the world, she is confident and bubbly and outgoing. She knows who she is, and she's strong in her convictions and beliefs. But like all of us, she has her insecurities.

She didn't choose an easy path in life. She is an artist, bursting with imagination and creativity. Always seeking to splash paint on a canvas, or sketch out whatever scene she's dreamt up in her head. She works as a graphic designer, which lets her stretch her creative muscles, but she doesn't love it. She doubts her abilities sometimes, never sure if she's doing what the client wants exactly, fearing rejection and criticism. She'd much rather have the freedom to paint whatever she likes, free of all constraints and criteria. But, there's bills to pay. She earns enough to live comfortably, so she knows she shouldn't complain.

She's just started dating someone new, and it's going well so far. Kind, charming, funny, smart... all the boxes are ticked. They talk and listen to each other, conversation flows easily. It's only been a couple of weeks, but she's optimistic. After all, her friends definitely approve. They say she needs someone put together, to help keep her grounded when her fantasies start to run too wild. Stability, that's what they said. And stability's not the same as boring at all... right?

She's in a good place, for the most part. She feels guilty when her sadness and insecurity creeps in, because she knows she's lucky to have what she does. Even though she also knows that those feelings are natural and valid! But overall, she's good. She looks on the bright side of life all the time. There's so much to see and do and experience in the world, and she's not going to waste any time soaking it all in. And, she's going to leave her bright, bold mark on it in the process.
