Outfit - Sparkle

So when I choose my new apartment in Hong Kong (I'll do a tour post some time soon), I was aware that it was small. What I didn't think through was the small space and lack of natural light makes it pretty difficult to take outfit photos. I discovered the roof of my building, and managed to take these photos up there, but was then informed that it's a restricted area... So I've yet to figure out a solution for my next photos... I may have to explore publics spaces, yikes! Anyway, this outfit is for a slightly more dressed up occasion, like an evening out. The skirt was new at Christmas, and I love the colour and detailing, and the sparkles are pretty for brightening up this time of year, though it is pretty short so I think I'll be playing it safe with leggings most of the time. The top is simple, but it's got a zip detail on the back, and is a nice fabric, so it feels a little dressier than other tops. And it's not an evening out without heeled boots and my leather jacket!

Settling In Again | Hong Kong

So, as most of you know, I'm back in Hong Kong these days. It's been a hectic couple of weeks, as moving country is no small task, and anyone who keeps an eye on this blog will have noticed that I haven't really addressed my move much since getting back. This is mostly because I've been so busy, and because there wasn't a whole lot to write at first. It's been two weeks now though (although it feels like much longer already!), and I'm a bit more settled again.

Oh and side note, this is my 500th post! Happy blog-aversary to me!

Top Five Disney Films

Anyone who knows me well knows that I'm a big Disney fan. I grew up watching Disney channel and all the classic films, and I still have a Disney playlist on my iPod that I listen to regularly. I've also visited two Disneyland parks, in Florida and in Hong Kong - hoping to get to Shanghai and/or Tokyo's before I leave Asia too! So for today's top five post, I'm sharing my five favourite classic animated Disney films, in no particular order.

Outfit - Triangular Touches

Yay for new clothes! Outfit posts have been a bit trickier lately, due to moving and staying at my friend's and such; I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I move to my new apartment either, as it's so small! I managed to squeeze in some photos though, showcasing some more new clothes from over Christmas. Hong Kong has been fairly warm since I got back, so it's possible to go out with a top and jacket, and no jumper or cardigan. I like the half sleeves on this one too, making it slightly more seasonal, and the triangular pattern is really fun. The leather-effect hems are interesting too, and there's even a cut out and bow on the back of the neck (which proved to be hard to photograph alone). I'm also absolutely obsessed with these new jeans! I bought them from New Look, my go-to shop for jeans, especially since they always have my height/length available (impossible to find in Asia), and the high waist makes my legs look even longer. It's also the comfiest, slightly stretchy denim ever!

Travel Inspiration - Cambodia

Life is still pretty busy since moving back to Hong Kong - I've more or less spent all week either in work or apartment hunting, so I'm going to wait to write a post about settling in again once I'm a bit more sorted out. So, instead today I'm bringing you my first travel inspiration post in a little while. I've decided to feature Cambodia today, as it's been about a year since my trip there (we start the Lunar New Year holiday next week). I travelled the country pretty thoroughly, over nearly two weeks, visiting Phnom Penh, Battambang, Koh Rong, and of course, the Angkor Temples. My posts from last year have plenty of information about the whole trip, so this post is to give you a taste of the country.

Change | Leaving Korea and Returning to Hong Kong

Well. What an intense start to 2017. I think the title explains it really. After four months living and working in Korea, I have made the decision to move back to Hong Kong, until the summer at the moment. This all came together quite quickly and suddenly, but that doesn't mean it was an easy decision, nor one that I took lightly, but after talking it through with family and close friends, especially while I was back home over Christmas, I've realised that I need to put my happiness and my health first, both of which have been suffering lately.

Review - You Me At Six: Night People

This is going to be a different sort of review, because this is a different sort of band for me. I try to keep reviews impersonal and unbiased as much as possible, but You Me At Six are a band I have a much stronger connection to. They have been my undoubted favourite band for at least eight years now, and have yet to let me down. Every album seems to be better than the last, and Night People is no different. They also have this uncanny knack for releasing new albums (certainly their last three) at times when I really need them; Sinners Never Sleep when I wasn't always having the easiest time adjusting to a new life at university, and Cavalier Youth when I was not enjoying my year abroad in France. And now, Night People, at a time when I've been struggling here in Korea, and have been making some tough choices. Their music has been a continual source of reassurance for me over the years.

Outfit - Zig Zag

I do like getting new clothes! I got a few new things at Christmas, mostly things I chose online and my parents bought, but there were a few surprises too. And it was all from websites and shops that I can't access in this part of the world. I've replaced a few pairs of jeans that were getting worn out, which I always get from New Look, as I find they fit me best. This pair are my usual dark colour and skinny cut - easiest to wear with all my boots! - but the slightly shorter and ragged hem are a bit different for me. It will often be covered by taller boots, but I was experimenting with the ankle boots today - I'm not totally convinced, as I think it makes my legs look a little shorter? But it's always good to try out new things. The top was also a new purchase, and I really like the bold pattern, and the colours will pair well with most other items in my wardrobe! I can see myself getting a lot of wear out it too, as it can definitely be dressed up or down for different occasions.

Music I'm Looking Forward to in 2017

2016 produced a few albums I really enjoyed, but I realised that 2017 is going to involve several more that I'm eager to get my hands on. It's just coincidence that they're all being released close together too! I thought I'd share these albums that I'm excited for, and it's all prompted me to check up on some artists I haven't heard from in a while, and start scouting for new artists I haven't listened to before.

Good News Stories of 2016

In a recent post, I mentioned some good news stories that come out of an otherwise terrible 2016. Our world is facing so many problems that we need to tackle. We must give help to those who need it, and fight for those who don't have equal human rights, and give voices to those who cannot speak. We must continue to work against climate change and protect our environment and wildlife. We must protect and defend and not let ourselves be silenced. However, it's nice to pause and celebrate the good that we have achieved so far. 2016 was a shit-show in so many ways, but it wasn't a complete disaster.

2017: Looking Forward

Happy New Year! New Year, new me... No, I doubt that. But, as I've done previously, the New Year can be a good time to look at where you are in life, and think about what you'd like to change or improve about yourself. I'm by no means going to become a brand new person overnight, but there are always things that can be worked on. They say the way you spend New Year's Eve can reflect how you'll spend the rest of the year - I spent it on a plane travelling back to Korea, so hopefully that means there's more travel ahead. It's not been the most positive start so far, as I've realised I'm unhappy in my current position, but that's prompted me even more to think about change.
